Notes from the meeting of 27th July, 2010

Seven members of the Parish Council, Cllr Scott (WC) and WPS Barham (Wiltshire police) were present. Essential repairs at the public toilets have now been carried out. Councillors are meeting with WC road engineers on 5th August to discuss the trial implementation of a 20 mph speed limit through the village. Other road safety issues will be discussed, including resurfacing of Church Road. Wessex water have been contacted several times regarding the leak visible on The Green but to date no action has been taken. Information regarding local walks can be obtained from the Information office in Corsham. The timing of the shopping bus to Corsham was changed on 1st june but new timetables were not received until mid-July. WPS Barham reported that speeding was not only done by outsiders to the village, but often involved local residents. She also gave warning that the level of policing could be affected by government cutbacks and that volunteers now manned the station in Corsham. Street meetings are not proving effective and need reconsidering, but members of the public are invited to comment on the police site. The Bobby Van team will be at the regular coffee morning, held in the Church, on 5th August.

A new planning application for a single story garage, store room and extension at 4 Slaughterford Road met with no objections. Crowning of a tree at Summerfield, Church Road has been approved by WC.

Information regarding the village can be placed/ viewed on the website (biddestoneweb@btinternet.com).

The next meeting will be on 31st August, 2010.
